It’s amazing to me that the phenomenon of speaking in tongues continues to be questioned and controversial.

From unknown tongues’ beginnings in Acts 2 and throughout the New Testament, we find reference not only of the reality of speaking in this way, but also the reason and empowerment of doing so.

For me, having spent years trying to be a Christian without this powerful gift, there is no question about its importance and necessity in a believer’s life.

Recently, I have become so impressed about the importance of supernatural tongues, that I am writing a booklet about it.

I must confess that it is something that came into my life over 40 years ago I had come to take it for granted. Lately, seeing some believers here in our local body who had been struggling to receive the evidence of the Holy Spirit in their life by speaking in tongues finally break through, I have been awakened to reconsider the part of tongues in my and our Christian lives.

Here’s a quick review until the book is finished.

Speaking in tongues is evidence that one has received the baptism in the Holy Spirit which is also a fulfillment of the feast of Pentecost.

Tongues are given to believers to be able to pray perfectly, because as it says in Romans eight, we do not know how to pray as we ought. When we yield to the voice of the Holy Spirit, He takes hold and guides us to pray as the heavenly father wants.

There is so much we do not know about our lives on a daily basis that can be covered by praying in the spirit or in tongues. Praying this way precedes our daily walk when:

We will need protection.

We will need provision.

When we will need favor.

We will need guidance and counsel.

We want and need to pray for others.

How else can we pray exactly how we need to pray without ceasing?

Just some thoughts.
